Boss Everyware – Monitoring Tool for the Employer, Cautious Parent
The Alexander Jmerik-developed application Boss Everyware is meant to be used by two types of users in particular. The application is meant to be used by the cautious parent who wants to see what his child is doing while using the computer. And it is meant to be used by the vigilant employer (a.k.a. the boss) who wants to see how the employees are using the computer.
Once Boss Everyware is up and running, it will provide the employer/parent with several important pieces of information. The application will tell the employer/parent what applications the child/employee launched, what website were visited, and what the child/employee typed in an email or IM message.
Boss Everyware also records how much time the user spent on a certain window – which is nice if you want to find out if an employee is wasting time with a specific app, or a website. Boss Everyware also records for how long the user was inactive – which is nice if you want to find out if your employee is wasting time.
Boss Everyware stores the info presented above in a log file. Said log file can be saved to a local folder or network share, can be uploaded to a FTP location, or it can be sent via email.
Before you get Boss Everyware, take the time to look at these technical bits and pieces:
Download – the download weighs in at little over 4MB, meaning it should complete in no time at all.
Installation – according to the developer, Boss Everyware provides support for Windows 9x, NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista 32-bit (at the time of writing this). Boss Everyware need 5MB of disk space and 16MB of RAM to work.
Limitations - Boss Everyware is free to try (100 records per log file limitation).
Pros
Cons
